Deadline to Apply for STEM OPT 24-Months Extension: 8/8/2016

STEM OPT Extension Deadline

Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security extended the 17-month Optional Practical Training (OPT) extension for students with science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) degrees to 24 months. It provides expanded opportunities for international students and employers to engage in productive workplace learning opportunities.

If you are an international student on an existing 17-month STEM OPT employment authorization document (EAD) and plan to stay for the full 24 months, make sure you apply for an additional extension of seven months of OPT by August 8th, 2016.
